Horror as woman is allegedly threatened with a machete during terrifying carjacking

A woman was allegedly threatened with a machete during a carjacking in the same suburb where a schoolboy was allegedly killed in an unrelated attack. 

The woman had been removing her belongings from a car on Dickson Street at Sunshine, in Melbourne‘s west, at 1am on Monday.

Police allege she was then approached by a man wielding a machete before he stole her gold-coloured Holden Special Vehicle Senator.

The woman had been removing her belongings from a car on Dickson Street at Sunshine, in Melbourne's west, at 1am on Monday

Police then spotted the allegedly stolen car five kilometres away on Ballarat Road, at Footscray.

A helicopter then followed the vehicle to Gisborne before the driver allegedly fled on foot. 

He jumped over several fences before he was arrested by officers.

Police allege a machete was found in the car during a vehicle search. 

The 22-year-old man, from Echuca, was arrested and charged with several offences.

Aggravated carjacking with an offensive weapon, threat to inflict serious injury, aggravated assault were among the charges.

He was also charged with driving at a dangerous speed and possessing a controlled weapon. 

The 22-year-old faced Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

The knifepoint carjacking comes just four days after a tragic incident in which a schoolboy died after he was allegedly stabbed with a machete in an unrelated incident.

On Thursday, 16-year-old Pasawm Lyhym died after a dispute between two rival groups at a bus stop in Sunshine.

As investigations into his death continue, new CCTV of teens appearing to be embroiled in an altercation prior to the incident has emerged.

A terrified Pasawm is seen running for his life from the scene with two other teens allegedly wielding knives chasing him.

One of the boys chasing him was still in school uniform, carrying a backpack.
