Gym junkie charged after his girlfriend was found dead in a high-rise apartment – so why did it take cops 24 hours to find her body?

A woman who was found dead inside a Sydney unit has been named and her partner arrested after it took police almost 24 hours to locate her body following an anonymous tip-off about a domestic dispute.

Tatiana ‘Tania’ Dokhotaru, 34, was found dead by police in the unit of an apartment block on Norfolk St in Liverpool, south west Sydney, around 8pm on Saturday.

Police received an anonymous phone call about an alleged domestic dispute at the huge apartment block about 11.45pm on Friday.

Her partner Danny Zayat (pictured), 28, has been charged with domestic violence offences and is currently assisting police with enquiries into her death

Yet, when they attended just over three hours later, they were unable to locate the apartment in the almost-300 unit building.

About 8pm on Saturday, police were called back to the Liverpool unit block, where they found Ms Dokhotaru’s body.

At he apartment was her partner Danny Zayat who was arrested and taken to Liverpool Police Station for questioning. 

He was charged with stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm (DV), contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (DV) and destroy or damage property (DV).

Zayat is expected to be charged with murder, according to 10 News First.  

Police have launched a critical incident investigation into why it took 20 hours for officers to locate the apartment.
