Texas AG Paxton slams ‘Soros backed’ prosecutor after jury convicts Fort Hood soldier of murdering BLM protester who aimed AK-47 at him – as Gov. Abbott says he’s working to ‘swiftly’ pardon him

  • Texas attorney General Ken Paxton said Travis County District Attorney José Garza had ‘weaponized the judicial system’ to follow liberal agendas
  • Governor Greg Abbott said that he is working to pardon a U.S. Army sergeant, Sgt. Daniel Perry, convicted of murder for fatally shooting an armed protester
  • Perry was convicted of shooting 28-year-old Garrett Foster, who approached Perry’s car with an AK-47 rifle. Perry’s attorneys had claimed self-defense

The Texas attorney general slammed the district attorney who helped convict a US Army sergeant with murder in the after he fatally shot a Black Lives Matter protester who pointed an AK-47 at him.

Attorney General Ken Paxton lashed out at Travis County DA José Garza, saying he had ‘weaponized the judicial system’ and cowed to the ‘racial agenda’ of liberal mobs and extremists groups.

On Friday a jury in Garza’s district convicted Sgt. Daniel Perry of murdering 28-year-old Garrett Foster in 2020. Perry could face life in prison for the conviction.

Paxton also railed on Garza for funding he’d received from billionaire George Soros, and said he had criminalized personal freedoms like the ‘God-given right’ to self defense.

In a statement to Fox News, Paxton delivered a strongly worded rebuttal to Garza’s conviction of Perry.

‘Self-defense is a God-given right, not a crime. Unfortunately, the Soros-backed DA in Travis County cares more about the radical agenda of dangerous Antifa and BLM mobs than justice,’ he said.

‘This week has shown us how rogue prosecutors have weaponized the judicial system. They must be stopped!’

The Fort Hood Army Sgt was driving his car as an Uber that evening to earn extra cash, when he tried to get through a crowd of Black Lives Matter protesters.

Part of the crowd of protesters was Foster, who pointed his AK-47 in the window of Perry’s car, with the serviceman opening fire in response and killing him.

Both men’s guns were legally-obtained, with jurors in Austin claiming Perry had other, non-deadly means of self-defense available to him.

‘Texas has one of the strongest ‘Stand Your Ground’ laws of self-defense that cannot be nullified by a jury or a progressive District Attorney,’ Abbott said.
