A Texas city has lost its Guinness World Record bid for bringing together the biggest group of people with the same first name after hundreds of Kyles flocked to the Lone Star State for the count.
The current record was set when 2,325 Ivans gathered in the Bosnian town of Kupreski Kosci in 2017.
The City of Kyle lost out on beating the world record on Sunday at the ‘Gathering of the Kyles’.
After a count and recount of all registrants, the city said it had 1,490 Kyles in attendance.
‘We are so grateful to the hundreds of Kyles that attended the Kyle Fair A Tex-Travaganza to participate in this world record attempt,’ a spokesperson for the City of Kyle said.

The event had global representation, featuring attendees from Ontario, Calgary, Vancouver, British Columbia and Saskatchewan, Canada.
‘We thank the many Kyles that turned out for this event and were blown away by their enthusiasm and camaraderie in the City of Kyle’s fourth and most successful attempt at this record,’ the spokesperson said.
The City of Kyle plans to try to break the record for the largest same-name gathering next year at its second Kyle Fair A Tex-Travaganza.
Issuing ‘The Call of the Kyles’ on the city’s Facebook page, a spokesperson wrote earlier this month: ‘In order to have a chance at breaking this record we need Kyles from near and far to take part.
‘We need tall Kyles, short Kyles, young Kyles and old Kyles.’
It is the fourth occasion that the City of Kyle has attempted to break the record.

However, there are strict rules in place as to who is eligible to be a Kyle in the record attempt.
Firstly, those taking part must have the first name Kyle and no other spelling of the name is accepted.
‘We cannot accept middle names or last names. All participants must have the name ‘Kyle’ – spelt that way,’ organisers wrote.
‘Various iterations of ‘Kyle’ such as Kyler, Kiel, or Kylee, are not accepted.
‘Kyles of all ages are able to participate.’
The ‘Great Gathering of Kyles’ took place at the end of the city’s annual Kyle Fair, which spans three days and includes live music, rides and a rib cooking contest.
‘All Kyles that participate in the Gathering of the Kyles will receive a free t-shirt, some other goodies, and be serenaded by one of their own, Kyle Daniel,’ a spokesperson for the event wrote.
‘Entry to the Kyle Fair is free as well as attendance to all live music performances.’
