One viewer wrote ‘My 14 year old sister has just come to me with a lump in her neck she has a cold and swollen tonsils should we be worried?’

Another said: ‘Omg I was told it was tonsillitis but I had it in January felt nothing like tonsillitis, I’ve got an abnormal nodule waiting for results Tuesday.’

Responding to worried commenters, Chloe made an additional video, listing that her symptoms were ‘night sweats, constant fatigue, swollen lymph nodes, pains when drinking alcohol, and feeling unwell all the time.’

During treatment, she was inundated with messages of support from her followers – the comments read ‘Proud of you stay strong’ and ‘Pray things get better.’

The NHS website has lists of symptoms of both tonsillitis and Hodgkins Lymphoma – they have a few similarities, but they are on the whole they are very different.

Symptoms of tonsillitis

The main symptoms in children and adults are:

  • A sore throat
  • Problems swallowing
  •  A high temperature of 38C or above
  • Coughing
  • A headache
  • Feeling sick
  • Earache
  • Feeling tired

Sometimes the symptoms can be more severe and include:

  • Swollen, painful glands in your neck (feels like a lump on the side of your neck)
  • Pus-filled spots on your tonsils
  • Bad breath

Symptoms of Hodgkins Lymphoma

The most common symptom of Hodgkin lymphoma is a swelling in the neck, armpit or groin. The swelling is usually painless, although some people find that it aches.

However, it’s highly unlikely that you have Hodgkin lymphoma if you have swollen lymph nodes, as these glands often swell as a response to infection.

Other symptoms include:

  • Night sweats
  • Unintentional weight loss
  • A high temperature (fever)
  • A persistent cough or feeling of breathlessness
  • Persistent itching of the skin all over the body

In early July, Chloe announced that she was now cancer free with a video that showed the beginning of her treatment, and herself now.

She shared pictures of her crying and her hair falling out, captioned ‘Diagnosed with stage 2 Hodgkins Lymphoma 08/03/2023.’

She then added a photo of herself, her partner and her family and wrote ‘Cancer free 04/07/2023.’

She continued to share her joy, with another video reading ‘Just beat cancer, watched the love of my life graduate, and spent the weekend at the most beautiful lodge. LIFE IS GOOD.’

Another showed her dancing in the rain to celebrate finishing chemotherapy.
