Toys R Us will open NINE new stores in coming weeks as toy retailer returns to Britain’s high streets… are any of them near YOU?
Toys R Us is set to open nine new stores in the coming weeks as the retailer makes a return to UK high streets.
The openings mark the first time the chain will be back since its collapse in 2018.
Each shop will open within WHSmith stores, with one ready to welcome shoppers as soon as next week.
The Toys R Us branches will supply toys made by brands such as Barbie, Bluey, Hot Wheels, Lego, Paw Patrol and Star Wars.
The first to open on June 10 will be at WHSMiths’ Monks Cross retail park in York.

A further eight shops will then open across the UK throughout the summer.
The full list of places where Toys R Us will be opening are:
- Canterbury (St George Street)
- Chelmsford (High Street)
- Cheltenham (High Street)
- Cwmbran (The Mall)
- Oxford (Cornmarket Street)
- Poole (Towngate Shopping Centre)
- Reading (Broad Street)
- Solihull (Mell Square)
- York (Monks Cross retail park)

According to The Sun, Sean Toal, managing director of WHSmith High Street, said: ‘The brand has long been known for its exceptional range of toys and games and complements our existing offer well.
‘Across each of the nine locations, we have a great team of colleagues who look forward to welcoming many new and existing customers over the coming weeks and showcasing the new store layout and, not forgetting, Geoffrey the Giraffe.’
The famous chain collapsed in 2018 and shut the doors to all of its 100 UK branches – announcing plans for a relaunch in October last year.
