Margo Martin, the deputy director of communications for former President Donald Trump, got a bit more famous on Tuesday when she accompanied her boss to his indictment in Miami thanks to an on air mix up.

Fox News anchor made her star rise faster than she could’ve imagined when he confused her with the ex-president’s wife, Melania.

John Roberts, a longtime fixture at the network, spotted the 27-year-old Martin’s arrival at Wilkie D. Ferguson Jr. United States Courthouse in Miami and assumed it was Trump’s 53-year-old wife.

‘We have some video that we want to play out here, Melania Trump entering the courthouse just a short time ago,’ showing the clip alongside a chyron that said ‘Melania Trump arrives at Miami court.’

As DailyMail.com reported earlier Tuesday, Melania was spotted leaving Trump Tower to visit a building where a John Frieda hair salon is located. She also went a dentist, spending two hours inside that office.

The apparent doppleganger has become a key part of Trump’s team and may herself be involved in the case her boss faces.

Martin, an Oklahoma native, has been with the president dating back to his time at the White House after joining as an advisor from Trump’s Save America PAC.

She was one of the few to remain on with the former president’s team beyond his White House tenure.

Martin became Deputy Director of Communications for Trump’s Save America PAC, which was used mainly to send emails to supporters and organize his continued rallies across the country.

Margo famously was the communications aide who gave the final press lid for the Trump administration. The moment was caught on camera and spread on social media where she said: ‘And one last time for the Trump White House, you have a travel photo lid.’

Martin may have some involvement in the president’s case in Florida on 37 charges related to his possession of classified documents.

She was regularly taping Trump at the time so that she could accurately depict his remarks in former Chief of Staff Mark Meadows’ memoirs, a CNN report states.

The recording could also be a key aid for prosecutors looking to prove Trump knew his ability to possess classified documents was limited.

It was provided to special counsel Jack Smith, whose team of prosecutors have spent months investigating the potential mishandling of classified documents at Mar-a-Lago and whether Trump or anyone else sought to criminally obstruct the probe.

The investigation shows signs of being in its final stages, with prosecutors having interviewed a broad cross-section of witnesses before the grand jury.

The comments, made in July 2021 at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, would seem to undercut Trump’s repeated claims that he declassified the documents he took with him from the White House to Mar-a-Lago, his Florida estate, after leaving office.

Martin has over 13,000 followers on Instagram, where she often shares photos with the former president or her glamorous travels elsewhere. Recent photos have shown her in Scotland and Ireland, as well as at Miami Heat NBA playoff games.

She’s less active on Twitter, but was notably posting quite a bit today as the president headed to and from the courthouse.

Martin posted videos of people cheering on and supporting Trump, as well as his visit to the Versailles Bakery where he offered to buy food for everyone and listened to customers sing ‘Happy Birthday’.

She also snapped a picture of the president’s plane as he was headed back to Bedminster this evening.

Her sister, Markie, is a broadcast journalist who works as a morning anchor for NewsNation.

Fox News anchor Roberts did eventually apologize about 15 minutes after the mistake on the air.

‘We thought that was Melania Trump who was arriving, apparently it was not Melania, apologies for that,’ Roberts said.

‘But a day like today, with so many comings and goings, it’s easy from a distance to mistake two people.’

DailyMail.com has reached out to Martin for comment.

Both Trump and his aide Walt Nauta were charged in a scheme to keep classified documents at Mar-a-Lago. Nauta walked alongside Trump at Versailles.

In court earlier, the 76-year-old pleaded not guilty to 37 counts after being booked and fingerprinted in the downtown Miami court complex.

Special Counsel Jack Smith, who is handling the case for the Department of Justice, was seated in the front row of U.S. Magistrate Judge Jonathan Goodman’s courtroom, while the ex-president was seated with his lawyers.

Trump has called Smith a variety of names, including a ‘deranged psycho.’

The court case kicked off just before 3 p.m. EST. Trump was released and no bond was set. After about 20 minutes of arguing by opposing lawyers, the court ruled that the ex-president can’t talk to witnesses, including Nauta, about the case.

Trump keeps his passport and remains free to travel.
