A woman has been rescued after allegedly being held captive by her boyfriend- who she already had a protective order against – in a disgusting litter-filled home.

Convicted felon Thomas Vernon Abercrombie, 42, is accused of holding his unnamed 62-year-old girlfriend hostage in the house she owned in Tomball, Texas

The property on Glenwillow Drive, worth near to $1million, has been described as a hoarder ‘house of horrors’ – with junk piling high in all of the rooms and a rotting pet dog carcass stashed in a closet.

The woman was allegedly under Abercrombie’s control – and escaped with cuts on her legs, above her eye as well as some bruising. She was taken to hospital.

She ran to her neighbors and told them that he wasn’t letting her leave the four-bed home where eight pets were also found in distress.

It’s unclear how long she was allegedly being held captive for.

Animals, both dead and alive, were also found in the ‘putrid’ smelling home where she was allegedly trapped against her will.

African-spurred tortoises and three mastiffs were rescued from the disgusting property – as well as multiple dogs that were reported to be in distress.

Investigators tried to make contact with Abercrombie – and he was said to be ‘screaming and yelling’ while breaking windows and barricading himself in at the property.

They were forced to call a SWAT team who deployed tear gas in a bid to get him out.

Abercrombie was found hiding inside the attic and he was eventually arrested.

The 42-year-old has now been released on bond.

He is also a convicted felon – and was charged last year for punching this victim in the face. She had a protective order issued against him.

Despite the order being in place in 2022, he still returned back to the home that she owned.

In April 2022, a welfare check was requested by an employee at Wells Fargo Bank, according to ABC13.

A friend, who helped her escape, said that she tried to hide the signs of abuse.

The friend told Fox26: ‘She finally thought “he’s going to kill me” so she ran next door.

‘But why she didn’t before is because he had her under his control.’

A neighbor, who said the hoarding inside the home seemed to coincide with the time that Abercrombie moved in, told ABC13: ‘I didn’t even know if she was still here because I never saw her.

‘So apparently, he probably did not let her go outside or whatever.’
