Heartbreak as Woolworths worker dies young in tragic circumstances: Tributes pour in from her coworkers: ‘She was loyal, caring and bubbly’

Family and friends are paying tribute to a Bundaberg teen who died after a horrific crash in Queensland.

Illiana Palella, 17,  was killed following a collision between an armoured vehicle and a car near Childers, 300km north of Brisbane on Tuesday.

She was flown to Royal Brisbane Women’s hospital from the scene of the crash, but was unable to survive her injuries.

A fundraiser to support her has been launched to help support the victim’s family.

Her friend,  Mackenzie Blackburn, described Ms Palella as a ‘beautiful friend of many’.

‘Whether it be her colleagues, friends or strangers, everyone knew that she could put a smile on anybody’s face,’ she said.

Ms Blackburn met Ms Palella at work at Woolworths Hinkler Centre. 

 ‘She comes from a hardworking, caring, and supportive family who were there with her through everything,’ she said.

‘Whether it be her colleagues, friends or strangers, everyone knew that she could put a smile on anybody’s face.’

She added: ‘She comes from a hardworking, caring, and supportive family who were there with her through everything. 

‘This tragic car accident that she had gone through caused them deep distress and emotional damage. She is loved by them so deeply.’

Jaime Shipp also paid tribute to her friend on social media.

 ‘I’m going to miss you so much can’t believe that you won’t be coming home rest easy my beautiful girl,’ Ms Shipp wrote in a Facebook post.

Another friend said she was ‘loyal, caring and bubbly’.

Riylee Sutton, remembered Ms Palella as a ‘shy, sweet girl’. 

‘She was adventurous. She would never leave your side, and was loyal, caring and bubbly,’ Ms Sutton said. 

A Woolworths Hinkler spokesman said they arranged counselling for Ms Palella’s friends and co-workers. 

Ms Palella’s death was confirmed by her family on Thursday after the early morning crash at 5.27am on Tuesday.

Two LifeFlight helicopters and four fire and rescue crews rushed to the scene and Ms Palella was flown to Brisbane but later died from her injuries.

A man freed from the wreckage was initially flown to Bundaberg for treatment before later being transfered to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.
