Penn Badgley (36) has been playing the stalker Joe Goldberg or Jonathan Moore, as he calls himself in the current fourth season, of the Netflix series You since 2018. Things often get really hot in the thriller, but the actor doesn’t like that at all. Because of the many sex scenes, Penn actually didn’t want to take on the role in “You”!
In an interview with Variety, the 36-year-old admits that he doesn’t like acting out these intimate scenes at all. Because of his almost six-year marriage, it is important to Penn not to have any sex scenes. “The fidelity of my relationship is important to me,” explains the Gossip Girl star. “And actually that was the reason why I wanted to turn down the role. I didn’t tell anyone, but that’s the truth,” the actor also openly admits.
Anyone who has already watched season four will have noticed that Penn’s wishes have apparently been granted – and there is a reason! “I asked Sera Gamble, the show’s creator if I just couldn’t do any more intimate scenes,” he said on his podcast, Podcrushed. So the “You” actor directly addressed reducing his intimate scenes from “100 to zero”. The American is satisfied with the result.
