Chesa Boudin parents, David and Kathy, were both convicted of murder for their involvement in the 1981 Brink robbery in Rockland County, New York.
Boudin is a successful American lawyer and member of the Democratic Party. He served as the 29th District Attorney of San Francisco from January 8, 2020, to July 8, 2022.
During his time as district attorney, Boudin focused on implementing criminal justice reforms to reduce the number of people in jail. Some of his notable reforms included changes to the bail system and promoting alternatives to traditional prosecution and sentencing.
While his efforts to reform the criminal justice system were well-intentioned, they faced significant criticism. Many people accused him of mismanaging the district attorney’s office and felt that his approach was too lenient towards criminals.
As a result of these controversies, a recall election was held on June 7, 2022, and 55% of voters chose to remove Boudin from office.
Despite the end of his term as district attorney, Boudin’s legal career continues to thrive. He recently became the executive director of a research and advocacy center at the University of California, Berkeley Law School. In this role, he can use his expertise and influence to make further advancements in the field of law.
