Josh Duggar is fighting back against the verdict! In May last year, the US TV personality was sentenced in court to 151 months in prison and a fine of 60,000 euros. The reason: The “19 Kids and Counting” star had material on the computer that showed child pornography. To the very end, television fame protested its innocence and demanded a lesser sentence. Josh apparently does not want to come to terms with the verdict to this day: his lawyers have appealed.
As reported by ABC News, among other things, Josh’s lawyers were at a hearing before an appeals court on Thursday. The aim is to have the process of child pornography reopened in the hope that the verdict would be in the interests of the 34-year-old the second time around. For the defenders, there should be reason enough to doubt the verdict.
They claim that serious mistakes were made during the first trial. For example, police allegedly unlawfully searched Josh’s cell phone, car, and place of work. He was also said to have been prevented from contacting a lawyer when he was arrested. Observers suspected in advance that the lawyers’ application would be dismissed in the Court of Appeal, but that was not the case. The appeal will now be discussed.
