The tweet was from the account @davegreenidge57 claimed that CNN had announced to replace its veteran reporter with Rick Santorum.
Though the tweet was sarcastic and light-hearted, many Anderson Cooper fans went into a meltdown. At this point, meltdown and Twitter are two words that have become synonyms for each other.
One of the Twitter users who, by the looks of it, is a hardcore supporter of Anderson Cooper said this would be the fall of CNN. The user said that with Hardwood gone and now Anderson being replaced, this only spells disaster for the American news channel.
And the funnier thing is the tweet is currently liked by more than 12k people and retweeted by 3k Twitter users.
Another Twitter user said that Anderson Cooper deserved better. Seeing some of the tweets won’t shock me if some of them even teared up imagining the famous reporter quitting the news network.
Boycott CNN was one of the trending topics last night, with many Anderson Cooper fans not happy with the current treatment of the news broadcasting channel towards their veteran reporter.
