Penn Badgley (36) is currently up to mischief as Joe Goldberg in the series You on Netflix. However, the actor is also known for his role as Dan Humphrey in the teen drama Gossip Girl and in the film ‘Shadows of Desire.’ However, the American almost landed another coveted Hollywood role. Penn was in the running for the iconic role of Jesse Pinkman in Breaking Bad!
In an interview with Buzzfeed, the 36-year-old spoke about the role in “Breaking Bad” that was snatched from right under his nose. “It was decided between me and Aaron Paul (43),” he says. The script of the drama was the best thing he had read in his acting career at that point. Ultimately, however, the coveted role went to Aaron.
The “Welcome Home” star also remembered the casting process three years ago. At the time, however, he thought Penn would get the part of Jesse! “When he walked in I was like, ‘Oh my god, that guy looks like a meth addict,’” he recalled to Entertainment Weekly. He means that in a good way, however, because that’s how much his competitor was in the role.
