Simlindele Khumalo, a matric student from Ondini High School was eagerly waiting for his matric results along with other students.
However, he received a surprising call from the Minister of Education’s office while he was awaiting the results.
The invitation came as a surprise and curiosity for Simlindele, who was sure of his good results because he worked very hard.
After reaching there, he was honored as the Matric Topper by Angie Motshekga at Mosaïek Church in Randburg.
Khumalo not only became a hero in his village but also inspired many to work hard to achieve their dreams.

With his recent achievements as the matric 2023 topper, Simlindile Khumalo has shared the difficulties he faced in his life.
Simlindele has worked tirelessly for the past year, unaffected by the difficulties created by continuous load shedding, which disturbed nearly 300 days of his academic career.
Moreover, his dedication to his academics and refusal to be held back by external challenges set him apart as a determined and resilient individual.
In an interview, Simlindele attributed his achievement to his passion for learning and the invaluable guidance he received from his uncle, Phakamani Mtshali, a teacher at the James Nxumalo School of Agriculture.
Additionally, he expressed his sincere gratitude to his uncle, his teachers, and other friends emphasizing the collective efforts that contributed to his success.
Khumalo revealed that his subjects included Mathematics, Life Science, IsiZulu, English, Physical Science, and Accounting, while he awaited the individual subject test scores.
Nonetheless, the principal of Ondini High School, Ntombifuthi Cookman, acknowledged the hard work and dedication of Simlindele and the entire class of matric 2023 with pride.
Wilson Ntshangase, the mayor of Ulundi, and the executive visited Simlindele and gave him some cash for his trip to Randburg to join the celebration.
Simlindele, accompanied by his mother and uncle, embarked on his first-ever plane journey to Gauteng to attend Thursday’s matric result ceremony.
