Austin Butler, known for his roles in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, The Dead Don’t Die and The Carrie Diaries, said he was still processing his nomination information for his role in Elvis when he learned he was being part of the actors who will compete for the Best Actor award.
Butler described the moment as bittersweet after not being able to share the happiness with Lisa Marie Presley, the King of Rock’s daughter, whom Austin plays in the film: “I think how much I wish she was here right now to celebrate with me.” Speaking on Today’s Hoda & Jenna show, the 31-year-old actor said the loss of Elvis Presley’s daughter caused him deep pain: “But I think it’s a way of honoring her, this is for her.”
During the Golden Globes (January 10), Austin received the award for Best Actor in a Drama Motion Picture for his performance and on that occasion, Lisa Marie Presley (February 1, 1968 – January 12, 2023) accompanied the actor and celebrated this great recognition.
