Tom, the team member of FOX13 News with the longest tenure, passed away on Thursday morning at his home in Desoto County due to a medical condition. He would have turned 58 on Saturday.

FOX13 viewers in Memphis, Tennessee, are in mourning following the breaking news that Tom Dees, a longtime reporter for the station, has passed away at the age of 57.

According to a FOX13 report, Tom died on February 9 at his home, a few days before his 58th birthday. His three children with his wife Cathy, Amelia, Ally, and Austin, are still alive.

Tom Dees was admitted to the hospital at the beginning of January as a result of having the rare lung condition Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF).

Tom started working at FOX13 in the fall of 1995. Over the years, he covered every topic you could imagine, from the University of Mississippi’s 2008 presidential debate to his morning Road Patrol segments providing traffic reports on Good Morning Memphis.

According to his family, longtime Fox 13 reporter and Emmy-winning journalist Tom Dees passed away Thursday in Olive Branch, Mississippi.

Dees, a writer from the Mid-South with 32 years of experience, was hospitalized at the start of January and was diagnosed with the rare lung condition idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF).
