Evan McMullin was born on April 2, 1976, in Provo, Utah, U.S., the eldest of his parents of four children, David McMullin and Lani Bullard.

When Evan was young, his family migrated to a rural area outside Seattle, Washington. McMullin’s Father worked as a computer scientist; his mother used to sell wholesale foods to neighbors from the family’s garage.

McMullin was elected a senior adviser on national security affairs to the House Committee on Foreign Affairs for the 113th Congress in 2013.

In 2015, McMullin became chief policy director of the House Republican Conference under Speaker Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.).
