Chelsea are just a few weeks away from their pre-season campaign getting underway for real.

The Blues will travel to the United States again to take on a number of top teams to try and get ready for the start of the domestic season.

It will be the first opportunity for Enzo Maresca to get a proper look at the players available to him, with the entire first team squad and some of the academy getting a chance to star.

A number of players who were out on loan last season will also get an opportunity to prove that they should remain with the first team for the upcoming season.

One of those who was away last season was Angelo Gabriel, who spent last season as a loanee at Strasbourg.

Angelo Gabriel has massive chance in pre-season

An injury cut his time there short, however the start he got off to was very promising.

It has been reported that he has already been told to prepare for the upcoming pre-season campaign, and some recent transfer news from Stamford Bridge suggests that he has a great chance to make an impact.

The Blues have sold Omari Hutchinson to Ipswich Town after his very impressive loan there last season, and one of their top targets, Michael Olise, has gone elsewhere.

This leaves Noni Madueke as a natural winger option at the club right now. He personally enjoyed a strong end to last season under Mauricio Pochettino.

There is always a chance that Cole Palmer will operate in this role too, however there will no doubt be an appetite to see him play in a central role due to the impact he can have on the entire team.

However, a strong pre-season for Angelo can see him enter Maresca’s thinking ahead of next season, and potentially challenge for minutes in what looks to be a busy season for the Blues.
