Fabrizio Romano has now claimed that he believes Chelsea may have actually gone off signing one player from a fellow Premier League side in the summer.
He told CaughtOffside that he gets the impression the club have other targets lined up to play up front instead of Brentford striker Ivan Toney.
Toney has been a long-term target for the Blues as they look to strenghten their fire power at Stamford Bridge.
It has previously been claimed that the Englishman has cropped up in their thinking before as a player who already has plenty of experience scoring goals in this league.
He finished only behind Harry Kane and Erling Haaland in the top scoring charts last season, and has picked up where he left off following his ban earlier this season.
However, Romano has now claimed that he believes they are going to look elsewhere when it comes to a new striker in the summer.
Chelsea not keen on Toney anymore
He said: “I’m not sure Chelsea are that convinced on Ivan Toney anymore, I think they’ve started to look at different kinds of strikers in terms of age. Toney could be an option for Arsenal, but we’ll see.

“Manchester United will also be in the market for a striker – they have to decide internally if they want an experienced striker, and if so Toney could be a fantastic opportunity.”
Other names who Chelsea have been linked with are Victor Osimhen from Napoli, with a number of Chelsea legends already saying they are in his ear about convincing him to join.
He is widely expected to be on the move at the end of the season, with him signing a new contract earlier this season that includes a release clause.
Another name who has been linked with the move is Viktor Gyokeres, who is the striker in Europe who has the most goal involvements this season.
