One former Chelsea target is not completely satisfied at his current club.
Chelsea made an approach to sign Matthijs de Ligt when he was still at Juventus shortly after Todd Boehly took over the club, according to the Evening Standard.
De Ligt would go on to join Bayern Munich instead in a deal worth £68m (Sky Sports) in total. However, Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg has claimed that the central defender is no longer happy at the club.
He has been in and out of the team this season, starting Bayern’s opening fixtures of the campaign on the bench.
It is a bit ironic, as Thomas Tuchel was in charge when Chelsea tried to sign De Ligt and now that the German has the Dutchman, he does not actually always use him from the start of games.

Chelsea should try and take advantage of Matthijs de Ligt’s unhappiness
If De Ligt really is unhappy at Bayern, then Chelsea should make a move for him in the summer.

The Blues may need to sign a new central defender soon, as Thiago Silva’s contract continues to run down, and De Ligt is a brilliant one.
For example, the 24-year-old had the highest average for aerial duels won per league game in Bayern’s squad last season (WhoScored).
De Ligt has not exactly decided to leave the Allianz Arena yet and there may not actually be a reason to.
If he can outlast Tuchel, which seems like a possibility with the way Bayern have played this term, the Netherlands international may fancy a fresh start under a new boss. But if not, it is worth Chelsea going after him again, especially if Silva does go on to depart Stamford Bridge.
That is beginning to look like an inevitability at this point. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Brazilian feels that he will not be offered a new contract.
