Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson was not able to score in his side’s 1-1 draw with Manchester City yesterday, but Daniel Sturridge was still impressed with his performance.
While Raheem Sterling was the man to score Chelsea‘s only goal of the game, it was Nicolas Jackson who set it up.
And speaking on Sky Sports after the match, Daniel Sturridge praised the 22-year-old’s overall display.
Jackson has been playing on the left of late, but Mauricio Pochettino decided to put him back up front for the game at the Etihad, a decision that paid off, according to former Everton midfielder Leon Osman.
Jackson is still Chelsea’s second top scorer after Cole Palmer, netting nine times in all competitions this season.

Daniel Sturridge impressed with Nicolas Jackson’s performance against Manchester City
Sturridge liked what he saw from Jackson against Pep Guardiola’s side yesterday.
On the Senegal international, the former Chelsea and City striker said: “All-round game, it was action Jackson today! We’re talking about a guy who’s over the last few weeks has been really sharp and I think it gave him confidence playing on the left wing in the previous games.
“He’s coming in today, you see the link-up play, one-twos, making bursting runs in behind, he got an assist tonight. I just think his all-round game today was brilliant and he was a threat all day.”

Nicolas Jackson’s all-round game against Manchester City was superb
The only thing Jackson’s performance was missing was a goal. As Sturridge highlighted, he got mostly everything right yesterday.
His passing was good, he held the ball up well and his pace and dribbling troubled City’s defence.
If the former Villarreal man can improve his finishing, he could become a really dangerous forward for Chelsea. And at 22, he has time to do that.
Time is not something Mauricio Pochettino or any manager in the Stamford Bridge dugout will be afforded, though, which is why you would expect the Blues to bring in the finished article in the summer rather than wait for Jackson to develop.
Napoli’s Victor Osimhen continues to be linked with a move to west London, with Italian journalist Rudy Galetti claiming that Chelsea have made the 25-year-old their No.1 target for attack.
