Alisha Lehmann and the Switzerland women’s football team have been out training as firefighters ahead of the World Cup.

With the tournament kicking off on July 20, the Swiss have undergone some unusual training as they eye success in Australia and New Zealand.

And that has included some team-bonding exercises, though a little more peculiar than your usual trip away.

The Swiss women’s Instagram account posted a video of the squad making the trip to a fire station.

They captioned the post: “Don’t worry, your local fire department is always at your service.”

There, they got into firefighter’s gear and completed various exercises that include their services.

Among them was Aston Villa star Lehmann, who took to her own popular social media channels to post pics of her and her international teammates.

Some activities included using the fire hose, dowsing flames and going on rescue missions.

And that also saw them ride in a fire truck, of course.

As well as Lehmann, Arsenal pair Noelle Maritz and Lia Walti are also in the squad as manager Inka Grings formulates her World Cup team.

Switzerland failed to qualify for the last World Cup in 2019 so expectations are not high for them.

In fact, they have appeared at just one World Cup – in Canada in 2015, where they won just once in a 10-1 victory over Ecuador. Switzerland lost the other two matches against Japan and Cameroon.

But that lack of pressure might benefit them as they look to make a statement performance.

Lehmann, meanwhile, will have high hopes ahead of the World Cup after ruling herself out of last year’s Euros. The 24-year-old told then-coach Nils Nielsen she was not mentally ready to handle the occasion.

Only this week, it was revealed that the Villa star was the top influencer on Instagram in women’s football.

The 38-cap ace has a whopping 13.8 million followers on Instagram and the average media value of her branded posts are worth £241,314.
