Arsenal are not leading Chelsea in the race to sign one player this summer.

Fabrizio Romano has claimed on Substack that there is not even a proper race yet for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.

A report from TEAMtalk recently claimed that Arsenal have moved ahead of Chelsea in the race to land Osimhen.

However, according to Romano, that is not the case with no club close to paying the 25-year-old’s release clause yet.

Arsenal and Chelsea, though, could have an advantage over some of their European rivals when things start kicking off for Osimhen. The Nigerian stated in January that he wants to play in the Premier League one day.

Arsenal not leading Chelsea in race for Victor Osimhen

It is good news for Chelsea that there is no clear favourite for Osimhen yet. For the Blues, it would be great if they could go into the summer and have a solid opportunity to sign the Napoli star.

He is obviously a terrific striker, scoring 11 goals in 17 league appearances this season. Last term, he netted 26 times in 32 appearances to help his side win the Serie A title.

If Chelsea can get hold of that kind of firepower, then it could really push Mauricio Pochettino‘s side up the table in the 2024/25 campaign. Right now, they sit 11th in the standings.

Until then, Pochettino is going to have to continue relying on Nicolas Jackson, who has looked sharp in the Blues’ last couple of Premier League fixtures.

The Senegal international scored a brilliant header in the 2-2 draw with Brentford at the start of the month before netting against Newcastle United with a clever flick.

It was Jackson’s 12th goal of the season, so he has not done terribly in the current campaign. However, the 22-year-old feels his goal record should actually be much better after some of the chances he has had.
