Arsenal are willing to break the British transfer record in order to sign Declan Rice this summer, talkSPORT understands.
The Gunners are yet to make a formal bid but have verbally indicated that they’re willing to pay a guaranteed £100million with add-ons to make him the most expensive British player in history.
The current record is held by Jack Grealish, who swapped Aston Villa for Manchester City in 2021 for a fee worth up to £100million.
Manchester United have also enquired about the player, however Rice has always preferred a move to north London.
The midfielder capped off his time at West Ham in the best possible fashion by lifting the Europa Conference League trophy last week, a match that David Sullivan admitted is likely to be his final in claret and blue.
Asked if it was his last match, Sullivan told talkSPORT: “I think it has to be. We promised him he could go. He set his heart on going.
“You can’t ask for a man who has committed more to us this season.
“In due course, he has to get on and we have to get a replacement – or several replacements.
“It’s not something we want to happen. We offered him £200,000-a-week 18 months ago. He turned it down.
“It’s cost him £10million to stay at West Ham in that time (in lost wages). And he wants to go.
“You can’t keep a player who doesn’t want to be there.”
