Fabrizio Romano has shared what Eddie Howe’s current stance on Alexander Isak is amid interest from Chelsea.

Chelsea are interested in signing Alexander Isak this summer, with it being claimed that they have offered Nicolas Jackson to Newcastle United in a swap deal.

The Blues are in the market for a new striker, and the 24-year-old ticks a lot of boxes.

Isak has Premier League experience and thrived in the division last season.

In the 30 games the Sweden international played, he managed to score 20 goals.

Eddie Howe’s stance on Alexander Isak

Isak was Newcastle’s top scorer last season and is easily one of their best players.

Understandably, Howe does not want to see him leave the club this transfer window.

Discussing what exactly Howe has told the Newcastle board about Isak on Substack, Fabrizio Romano said: “We know that Chelsea appreciate this talented striker, but it’s almost impossible because Newcastle want to keep him.

“I’ve been told that Eddie Howe, over the weekend, was very clear with the Newcastle board and owners about not wanting Isak to leave the club.”

Can Chelsea sign Alexander Isak this summer?

You can certainly see why Chelsea want to sign Isak. They were light up front last season and Isak is a top No.9.

By the end of the campaign, Jackson had become their only natural centre-forward option following Armando Broja’s loan move to Fulham.

However, given his value to the Magpies, it is not a deal that you can see materialising.

The former Real Sociedad man is going to cost a fortune. It has even been reported that Newcastle could end up demanding more than £200m for their talisman.

Anything can happen in the transfer window, but right now, Isak just seems like an unrealistic target for Chelsea. Chasing him feels like a waste of time.

The Blues want to at least give this a proper try, though, it appears. But if Howe has a say on the matter, then Isak is unlikely to be going anywhere this summer.
