Enzo Maresca is unlikely to say no to Chelsea signing one of their key targets this summer.

Chelsea officially announced Enzo Maresca as their new manager on Monday.

The Italian replaces Mauricio Pochettino, who left the Blues by mutual consent last month, and will be eager to succeed where he failed.

While Chelsea finished the season strongly under Pochettino, winning all of their final five fixtures, they were unable to qualify for the Champions League.

That will be Maresca’s ultimate goal next season, and the club are likely to use the transfer window to help him achieve it.

Enzo Maresca, Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley all keen on the same player

Chelsea’s co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley will continue to spearhead the club’s recruitment.

And when it comes to one target, it looks like Maresca is definitely on the same page as the pair.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, the 44-year-old would welcome a player like Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise, who could end up costing Chelsea £65m this summer.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Jacobs said: “With Chelsea, we have to wait and see because they’re very well stocked in that position, but Olise is certainly the kind of profile that Maresca would like and we know that Chelsea sporting directors, Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, both also appreciate the player too.

“And again, similarly, Chelsea have to work out whether it’s worth investing £60-65 million in that position.”

It has been claimed that Chelsea could meet Olise’s representatives in the coming days.

Why does Enzo Maresca want a player like Michael Olise?

Most managers would want a winger of Olise’s profile in their squad.

The 22-year-old is devastating in one-v-one situations, while his end product is really starting to improve.

Olise completed 2.1 dribbles per game this season, which was the second-highest average in Palace’s squad (WhoScored), and came up with 16 goal contributions in just 19 league appearances.

Chelsea have Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke. They can both play on the right flank, but you simply do not pass up the opportunity to sign a player like Olise if it arrives.
