Chelsea and Inter Milan are getting closer to an agreement over the sale of Romelu Lukaku, talkSPORT understands.
The Serie A side’s latest offer is worth £25.7million, with Chelsea hoping to negotiate a deal worth nearer their £40m asking price.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side have now knocked back two offers from the Champions League finalists.
Lukaku has made it clear he want to join the Champions League finalists after rejecting an offer from Saudi Arabia.
Reports claim Pochettino is desperate to finalise his pre-season squad ahead of their trip to the United States on Monday.
The Blues have already let 25 players go this summer, including a number of high-profile first-team stars.
Most notably, Mason Mount, Kai Havertz, N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic have all left.
But Lukaku – along with players like Hakim Ziyech, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Malang Sarr – is still in limbo.
Chelsea suffered the consequences of an overloaded squad during the 202/23 campaign as they spent more than £600m and finished 12th.
Pochettino will be keen to focus solely on the players who are part of his long-term plans when the Blues begin their preparations for the new campaign.
However, with just four days until they jet across the Atlantic, it is not yet clear whether players like Lukaku will be on the plane.
