Mykhailo Mudryk play for Ukraine, Chelsea have been adequately represented during the European Championships so far, and had their second first team player start a game earlier today.

This time it was the turn of Mykhailo Mudryk of Ukraine, following in the footsteps of Armando Broja earlier in the tournament.

Things certainly did not go to plan for the winger and his side though, as they were defeated in emphatic fashion by underdogs Romania.

The 3-0 scoreline certainly didn’t flatter their opponents, as Ukraine struggled to get anything going in attack.

This was by no means the fault of Mudryk though, who many are keeping an eye on in his role as the main man for his country.

After his rough start to life at Stamford Bridge however, supporters took to Twitter to be far kinder about his performance today.

Chelsea fans defend Mudryk

One user said: “I’ve been harsher on Mudryk than most for the last couple months but tbh if you’re gonna have a go at him, I don’t think this is the game. Only watched since the 2nd half, but he’s been pretty decent. Expect more but you’d think he’d been horrific from what I’ve seen on here.”

Another stated: “He’s trying to actually linkup with his teammates but whenever they get the ball they just shoot from outside the box and waste possession.”

A third claimed: “He’s been their only good player.”

A fourth added: “He was decent all game… Ukraine have a coaching problem They keep trying to play their way through.. you have gunmen like dobyk and yarmalenko.. why not put them in the box and whip crosses in.”

Finally, one claimed: “Ukraine haven’t even looked that bad. Sudakov and Mudryk both had decent games.”

After his disappointment, it will soon be the time for Chelsea fans to tune in to perhaps the only one of their players they are not particularly wishing well in this tournament.

Romelu Lukaku is expected to line up up front for Belgium, with a move away from the club firmly in everyone’s best interests right now.
