Darren Bent admits that he’s been blown away by just how quick one Chelsea player actually is.
Chelsea do have several speedsters that jump to your head when you think of the fastest individuals at Stamford Bridge. For example, Blues stars such as Mykhailo Mudryk and Raheem Sterling are renowned for their pace.
TalkSPORT pundit Darren Bent has thrown another name into the mix at Chelsea when talking about out-and-out pace.
He’s shared that Blues striker Nicolas Jackson, 22, has blown him away with his sprinting.
Nicolas Jackson the speedster
Bent has recalled Chelsea’s Jackson surprising him with the way he accelerated past Arsenal centre-back William Saliba in a league match last month.
When discussing Jackson on talkSPORT (4:45pm, 7 May), Bent said: “I think there is a player there. I think he will get better, I do. If they get a recognised centre-forward and he comes off the left, I think he could cause them problems.
“He is quick, he is powerful. I have never seen somebody run [William] Saliba like he ran him, and I thought, ‘Oh my goodness. He is quick’. Yes, he has missed big chances, but his goal at the weekend, composure, certainly the second one, composure. I think there is a player there. I think he will get better.”
Chelsea striker has superb attributes
When you look at Jackson’s all-round game, there’s so much to admire and be delighted with.
We certainly feel like his £32m transfer fee (The Guardian) is turning out to be real value for money.
It’s well criticised in the media that the Blues centre-forward isn’t clinical enough, but that’s not stopped the youngster reaching 16 goals across all competitions so far during this debut season in English football.
He’s got the pace, dribbling and movement that makes him impact games even when he’s not scoring.
