Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk will be the first to admit that his move to Stamford Bridge has not quite worked out yet.
Mykhailo Mudryk arrived at the Blues from Shakhtar Donetsk in a deal worth £89m last year, making him the fourth most expensive signing in Chelsea’s history.
However, the Ukrainian has not been able to tie down a spot in the team and has not produced the best numbers.
Even so, Chelsea would be better off trusting him than signing one of their reported targets this summer.
Chelsea could sign new left winger despite having Mykhailo Mudryk
Chelsea have Mudryk and Raheem Sterling for the left flank.
It is somewhere Christopher Nkunku can also play, yet the Blues could still sign another left winger before the transfer market shuts.
One man who they are thought to be interested in is Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi.
It has been claimed that Adeyemi is on Chelsea’s shortlist and that the Germany international fancies a move to the Premier League.
According to TEAMtalk, Dortmund would consider offers of around £25m for their attacker.
Karim Adeyemi will not be an upgrade on Mykhailo Mudryk
On the surface, Adeyemi does not look like he would be an upgrade on Mudryk.
In fact, they are both quite similar players. Their strongest asset is probably pace, while Mudryk is only a year older than Adeyemi.
Surely Chelsea would be better off sticking with Mudryk, who scored seven goals last season, two more than the five Adeyemi managed.
Again, his Chelsea career is not going the way that he would have hoped. But the fact that he is still only 23 means that there is plenty of time for that to change.
The Blues invested so much money in him as well. If they are going to sign a new left winger this summer, then it has to be someone who is better than the Ukraine international and not more of the same.
