Chelsea star Conor Gallagher is getting ready for the biggest game of his life.

England take on Spain in the Euro 2024 final tonight, which a few Chelsea players could feature in.

Conor Gallagher‘s England teammate Cole Palmer is another Blues star who could take to the pitch, while Marc Cucurella is almost certain to start for Spain.

The left-back has been a key player for his country during the tournament.

Gallagher is expected to start on the bench as he has for the majority of the competition. However, Gareth Southgate has hailed the impact that Gallagher and Palmer have made as substitutes.

Lee Bowyer not surprised with where Conor Gallagher has got to

Lee Bowyer managed Gallagher during the midfielder’s time on loan at Charlton Athletic, and the 47-year-old is not shocked to see the level that his former player has now reached.

In a message he sent to Gallagher via the Mail on Sunday (page 99, 14/07/2024), Bowyer said: “We took you from Chelsea and watched this 19-year-old kid become a leader.

“Others looked up to you because of your passion. Even then, you stood up for your-self. I can see why Gareth Southgate turns to you when he needs someone to get about the pitch and put a foot in.

“Your attitude was always spot on. It’s no surprise that you’ve gone up the levels since the Valley. Keep doing what you’re doing, Conor!”

Conor Gallagher can be pleased with how his career is going

Gallagher probably dreamt about where he is today.

At 24, Gallagher is an England international who could play in a European Championship final tonight.

He is playing for his boyhood club, who are one of the top sides in the world, and even captained them on multiple occasions last season.

What he needs now is a trophy, and he could get that later if things go to plan for England.

One at Chelsea would also be great, but with Gallagher’s contract running down, the club may be forced to sell him this summer.

He has been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid, and Gabby Agbonlahor thinks that Gallagher would be a better fit for Atletico than Chelsea.
