Laura Woods has remained coy on her long-term future after leaving her role as a talkSPORT presenter after three years – despite receiving two offers.
‘Woodsy’ signed off on the award-winning Sports Breakfast show in June with an emotional goodbye to her co-hosts and millions of listeners.
A two-time SJA Sports Presenter of the Year, she has been linked with replacing Jake Humphreys as the face of TNT Sports – formerly BT Sport.
But Woods, who will host ITV’s coverage of the upcoming Women’s World Cup, has declared she is in no rush to figure out her next permanent role.
Speaking to Fabulous Magazine about the TNT Sports rumours, she said: “I’ve seen a lot of the articles, but I haven’t signed anything.
“There are a couple of offers, but I’ve got a glorious month off now where I can sit down and start planning the next things.
“I don’t want to rush into anything.”
And Woodsy was also quick to comment on her emotional talkSPORT exit, as she revealed she tried holding back the tears when announcing her departure last month.
“I really tried not to cry doing the announcement because I just didn’t want to let the emotion take over.
“It was a really hard decision [to leave], but those hours are brutal and I felt like it was the right time.
“People say it’s important to go out on a high and the Breakfast show in a great place at the moment.”
Though Woodsy revealed there is one perk of leaving talkSPORT – a better social life.
She joked that waking up so early to start at 6am and present continuously to 10am had an impact on her social life as well as love life given that all important kips in the day take priority.
She stated: “I am single, but I’m also dating. That’s a part of my life that I have learned to keep private.
“I don’t want to put my whole life out there for everybody to see. I want to keep some things like ‘that person’ more sacred.
“But yes, it is hard. It’s like, ‘Would you like to go for brunch… after I’ve had a nap? It’s had a massive effect on a lot of my life.”
In the meantime, Woodsy is just looking forward to more dog walks and extended family time. Bliss.
