Sky Journalist Philipp Hinze has said that Chelsea will now have to pay a larger fee if they want to sign one striker this summer.

It has been widely reported all season that the Blues are keen on addressing the striker position this summer, with a number of names linked with the move.

Victor Osimhen is the one strongest linked to a switch at the moment, with it being reported over the weekend that they had opened negotiations at last.

It said they were even keen on including Romelu Lukaku in any potential deal, with it being claimed today that they are open to selling him to any club right now.

However, the Napoli man is not the only striker linked with a move at this stage, with them also reportedly considering a move for Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.

It was widely speculated that the interest in the youngster came with him coming it at a much lower transfer fee than Osimhen, who could be another record fee after Moises Caicedo joined last summer.

However, Hinze took to Twitter to state that the fee they will have been expecting to pay has actually gone up, with his release clause increasing off the back of impressive individual displays.

He said: “Sky exclusive: Benjamin Sesko’s clause is dependent on success! In the winter, the sum was 50 million € . Thanks to a strong second half of the season, the clause value is now around 65 million € . The parameters for the price increase are playing time, goals and assists.

“A possible increase is theoretically still achievable. Then the sum would be 70-75 million € . The decision will be made at the end of the season.”

Sesko has impressed in both the Bundesliga and Champions League this season, although has perhaps been outshined at times by teammate Lois Openda, who the Blues are also interested in.

His pace is certainly one of his best assets. He has been described as ‘very fast’ by agent Elvis Basanovic in the past.

There will be some sections of the Chelsea fanbase wondering if a big new signing is actually necessary this summer, with the promise being shown by Nicolas Jackson in his first campaign at the club.
