Frank Leboeuf is satisfied with how a couple of Chelsea midfielders are doing right now.

Chelsea are having a poor season, recently losing the Carabao Cup final to Liverpool while sitting in 11th place in the Premier League table.

Nevertheless, Frank Leboeuf has told Football 365 that he thinks Enzo Fernandez and Conor Gallagher are still doing a job for the team in the middle of the park.

Both players have been key men for Mauricio Pochettino this season.

Fernandez has appeared in every Premier League game he has been available for, while Gallagher has started all but one of the Blues’ top-flight fixtures.

Frank Leboeuf pleased with Enzo Fernandez and Conor Gallagher

While Leboeuf has been frustrated with Chelsea’s attack this season, he is quite happy with Fernandez and Gallagher in the middle of the pitch.

Discussing his former club, the World Cup winner said: “We have had the same issues for a while now. The problem with Chelsea is they can create, but they never finish. This is the major point they have to resolve. When they don’t have a striker and maybe a No.10 as well, they have a problem.

“Enzo Fernandez and Conor Gallagher are doing a job in the middle of the park, but they don’t have a player like Gianfranco Zola who can create and also score goals.”

Enzo Fernandez and Conor Gallagher have been reliable

Chelsea have picked up so many injuries all over the pitch this term.

Christopher Nkunku, for example, has been sidelined again, joining the likes of Reece James, Marc Cucurella and Romeo Lavia.

It is not making an already difficult job any easier for Pochettino. However, he has at least been able to rely on Fernandez and Gallagher.

The former has only missed a few games this season because of injury, while the latter probably would have featured in all of Chelsea’s league fixtures at this stage if he did not have to serve a one-match ban following a red card.

With so many other players dropping like flies right now, it is great that Fernandez and Gallagher have been able to remain fit.
