A new goalkeeper could arrive at Chelsea this summer.

Chelsea already have Djordje Petrovic and Robert Sanchez, while Kepa Arrizabalaga is also set to return to the club after his loan spell at Real Madrid finishes.

However, with Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca coming in, it looks like Chelsea will try and sign a new goalkeeper for him.

The Italian is set to join the Blues on a five-year deal.

Maresca will be leaving Leicester after just one season at the club. He guided the Foxes back to the Premier League this term at the first time of asking.

Chelsea have enquired about signing goalkeeper

Last summer, Chelsea signed both Petrovic and Sanchez from New England Revolution and Brighton & Hove Albion respectively.

Nevertheless, it looks like the Blues will try to bring in a new shot-stopper before the start of the 2024/25 season.

According to BBC Sport journalist Nizaar Kinsella, Chelsea have held “early talks” about signing Villarreal’s Filip Jorgensen.

Kinsella has claimed that they have asked for the conditions around the 22-year-old.

How did Filip Jorgensen perform in La Liga this season?

According to FBref, Jorgensen actually made the most saves during the 2023/24 La Liga campaign, recording 143.

It is an encouraging sign, but Chelsea will also want to make sure that they sign a goalkeeper who is good with his feet.

Possession is something that Maresca puts a lot of emphasis on. As per WhoScored, his Leicester side had the second-highest ball possession average in the Championship this season.

If Chelsea do go on to sign Jorgensen or another goalkeeper this summer, more questions about the club’s recruitment are going to be asked.

Again, it was only last summer when the Blues brought two new shot-stoppers to Stamford Bridge. To buy another one so soon is not a good look and you would then have to wonder what happens to Petrovic and Sanchez once Jorgensen or someone else arrives.
