Pundit Gary Lineker has now given his say on some of the comments that were made after Chelsea were defeated in the League Cup final yesterday.

He told ‘The Rest is Football’ that he believes some of the stuff from fellow pundit Gary Neville was a bit over the top, with him going in on the Blues for not winning.

Chelsea were defeated 1-0 by Liverpool, with Mauricio Pochettino’s wait for a trophy in England forced to go on.

He and his side will take some picking up following the manner of the defeat, with them conceding with just a few minutes left in extra time.

Neville was enjoying commenting on a low moment for the Blues, with him describing the side as ‘Billion-Pound Bottlejobs’.

Lineker has now had his say on those comments, with him believing they were over the top.

He said: “I thought Gary Neville was quite harsh. What was it the billionaire blue bottle jobs? I thought that was a bit strong. They could easily have won that game, I thought Cole Palmer was once again the stand out for Chelsea.”

Chelsea fans will have been praying for a lot from Palmer yesterday, with them pinning a lot of hopes on him like they have done all season so far.

However, it is fair to say that they will have been a bit disappointed with what they had seen, especially after he missed a big chance to score in the first half.

The Blues do not have long until they are back in action, where they will have the chance to continue another cup run to the latter stages of the competition.

They face Leeds United at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, with their opponents likely in a good spot following their big win over Leicester over the weekend.
