Fabrizio Romano has named one promising defender as the latest transfer target for Chelsea to bring in this summer.

There has again been plenty of rumours floating around about who the Blues are looking to sign in order to give the best backing possible to new manager Enzo Maresca ahead of his first season in Premier League management.

Defence is certainly a position where moves have to be made after the club said goodbye to Thiago Silva following four sensational seasons at Stamford Bridge.

He has made his long awaited return to Brazil to a great reception, and the Blues have started the process of replacing him with the signing of Tosin Adarabioyo.

It has now been claimed that they also have an eye to the future when it comes to defenders too, adding Aaron Anselmino to their list of potential signings.

Chelsea interested in Aaron Anselmino

Romano has claimed that there is genuine interest from Chelsea in the signing, however they have not yet submitted a formal bid for his services.

He said: “Chelsea have genuine interest in Argentinian centre back Aaron Anselmino, born in 2005. As per reports in Argentina, Chelsea are in the race and also aware of conditions of the deal. No formal proposal yet but monitoring him among many talents for the future.”

An analyst who has watched the centre-back in action multiple times for Boca Juniors has already described him as ‘special’.

Kendry Paez set to star at Copa America

The addition would certainly fit the mantra of bringing in the top youngsters in world football before fellow elite sides get their hands on them.

This was certainly achieved with the signing of Kendry Paez, who will join up with the first team in 2025.

He is set for his breakout tournament this summer at the Copa America, where it looks as if he will be a regular in the starting side despite the fact he is just 17 years of age.
