Unsurprisingly, Cole Palmer won both the Chelsea Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season awards last night.

Cole Palmer has had an incredible debut campaign at Chelsea, putting up some truly phenomenal numbers.

In 42 appearances, the attacker has scored 24 goals and provided 13 assists.

Considering the above, there was no chance of any player beating Palmer to either award.

Everyone probably ended up voting for the 22-year-old, but who did he nominate for the Chelsea Players’ Player of the Season accolade?

Chelsea have not had a great season, with Mauricio Pochettino‘s men currently sitting seventh in the Premier League table.

However, as well as Palmer, there have still been a couple of other individuals in this Blues’ squad who have performed quite well this term.

That includes Malo Gusto, and Palmer told Chelsea’s official Instagram that he voted for the full-back last night.

When asked who he nominated for the Chelsea Players’ Player of the Season award, the Englishman said: “I voted for Malo Gusto. I love playing with him on the right. He’s been amazing this season when he’s played as well.”

Why did Cole Palmer vote for Malo Gusto?

Gusto has easily been one of Chelsea’s best players this season.

The Frenchman is still just 20 years of age and has had big shoes to fill, coming in for the injured Reece James, but he has not disappointed.

Going forward, Gusto has been really good, notching up eight assists in 34 appearances.

He has really soften the blow of losing James and is going to provide the Chelsea captain with a real challenge when he is fit enough to play again.

Former Arsenal player Adrian Clarke thinks both Gusto and Palmer have been at the heart of the Blues’ recent success this season.

If Chelsea never signed Palmer from Manchester City last summer, maybe Gusto would have claimed the award.
