Chelsea’s 3-2 win against Nottingham Forest was a big one for the club.

It has put them level on points with sixth-placed Newcastle United, making qualifying for next season’s Europa League a real possibility.

It was also a very big game for one Chelsea attacker, who would have delighted Mauricio Pochettino with his contribution at the City Ground.

In fact, Pochettino probably would have been satisfied with most of his forward line.

Chelsea’s attack got the job done against Nottingham Forest

Nicolas Jackson did not have his best game in a Chelsea shirt in his side’s win at the City Ground.

The striker was dispossessed more times than any other player on the pitch, according to WhoScored.

However, it was Jackson who netted Chelsea’s winning goal in the 82nd minute.

Raheem Sterling and Mykhailo Mudryk, both attackers, were the two other Chelsea players to score, with the former putting Pochettino’s side level just before Jackson grabbed the winner.

Sterling’s future has come into doubt, but that goal could change things for the £50m winger.

Raheem Sterling may have saved his Chelsea career with Nottingham Forest goal

Sterling has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge, with MLS touted as a potential destination.

However, perhaps his role in Chelsea’s comeback against Forest may persuade the club to keep hold of him.

Cutting in from the left before firing a fantastic shot past Matz Sels, Sterling reminded everyone of what he can do. It was the kind of goal he so often scored during his time at Manchester City.

In the same week, Chelsea have also reportedly cooled their interest in Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams. If the Blues do opt against signing the Spain international or another left winger in the upcoming transfer window, then, that bodes really well for Sterling.

This could maybe, just maybe, be a turning point in Sterling’s Chelsea career and perhaps convince his employers to keep hold of him this summer.
