One player who won the Premier League at Chelsea has now given his verdict on what they should do with Mauricio Pochettino.

Goalkeeper Asmir Begovic has stated to TalkSPORT what he thinks the club should do with the under-pressure boss as we approach the end of his first season in charge.

Pochettino saw his fortunes potentially change across a 45 minute spell on Saturday, with the pressure firmly on being 2-0 down at half-time against Aston Villa.

Mauricio Pochettino under pressure

However, his Chelsea side came out a different beast in the second half, walking away with a point and a case that they deserved all three.

Pressure has been on the boss for weeks now, with their inconsistent results and performances being a source of frustration amongst the fanbase.

Pundits have had their say all season on what the club should do, with Gary Neville voicing his support for the Argentine over the weekend.

Asmir Begovic backs Mauricio Pochettino

Now, former Chelsea goalkeeper Asmir Begovic has followed suit by backing the manager.

He said: “Yes, I think so (Pochettino needs more time). He is a top, top manager and, you know, it’s difficult. You ask any team, I was at Everton for a couple of years, changing managers a lot is just not the right way to do it, makes it really difficult, and, of course, you change a lot of players on top of that.

“Not having stability is really tough. I really hope he is given the time, especially getting into next season, and he can build his team.”

Those at the club will no doubt be looking at the potentially available managers this summer and whether they think any of them will be a real upgrade on Pochettino.

One of the names reported strongest in recent weeks has been Ruben Amorim over at Sporting Lisbon, who has enjoyed another fine season at the helm in Portugal.

Other potential options include Roberto De Zerbi, although he is enduring a rough run of form over at Brighton.
