Brentford could end up selling Chelsea target Ivan Toney this summer for as little as £50 million.

That is according to well-respected journalist Simon Phillips.

Ivan Toney, 27, is a central striker frequently linked in the transfer rumour mill with a potential exit.

The Brentford star has two goals in two Premier League games since returning from his ban.

So, where will the clinical frontman be playing his football beyond this season?

Simon Phillips has reported via his Substack this week that Brentford will demand around £50m-£60m for Toney at the end of the season.

He’s explained that Chelsea are among the clubs watching the 27-year-old English centre-forward.

Also, the Blues have maintained relationships with Toney’s representatives and he’s in their conversations as a potential target.

Phillips wrote: “I understand that Brentford are set to ask for a fee of around £50m-£60m in the summer, with the striker entering his final year of his contract… There are many teams interested and watching Toney’s performances this season, including Chelsea.

“The Blues established relations with Toney’s reps last season and have kept in contact. There has always been split opinions on the board as to whether Toney is the one that they should go for, but he’s still very much in the conversations.”

Ivan Toney available for £50m-£60m

Brentford manager Thomas Frank recently said that Toney will “probably” be sold at the end of the season, as quoted by BBC Sport.

In our view, Chelsea should be all over a deal for Toney if the £50m-£60m price bracket is correct.

The only hesitation is that the striker hasn’t scored under the microscope of playing for an elite club in his career, but he’s a complete forward that deserves that opportunity to try.

Speaking via The Independent recently, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola described Toney as an “exceptional player”. It’s very high praise indeed from one of the sport’s best ever managers.
