Pundits Gary Lineker and Micah Richards seem to be in agreement about one thing regarding Timo Werner’s time at Chelsea.
They told ‘The Rest is Football’ that they believe he was under too much pressure to find the net at Stamford Bridge, an area they don’t believe is his strongest.
Werner is currently on loan at Tottenham for the rest of the season, where he has instantly become an important member of the starting side.
He is yet to register a goal since his return to England, however has been credited with a number of assists already.
This may lean into why both Richards and Lineker are of the belief that his goalscoring being the factor he was judged by at Chelsea was perhaps the wrong way of going.
Richards said: “I don’t think he needs that responsibility to score all the goals.

“I know that sounds ridiculous but I mean in the terms of the way of how they want to play and press and if they can just use his pace to break the line and just pass it across whereas I feel at Chelsea there was a lot more responsibility on him to score goals.”

Lineker followed with: “I would agree with that.”
The current Chelsea has frequently come in for questioning this season, particularly those who play on the same left-hand-side as the German.
Mykhailo Mudryk is still looking incredibly raw despite being a year into his Chelsea career now. He has been unable to nail down a starting place at the club.
Raheem Sterling has also had his fair share of critics for not delivering regular enough for someone of his age and experience should be.
There is a very realistic chance that neither player is handed the start for the Premier League game on Sunday against Wolves.
