Chelsea have recently been linked with one winger from the Championship.
Mauricio Pochettino is interested in signing Leeds United’s Crysencio Summerville, a report from TEAMtalk recently claimed.
However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano says he is not aware of any Chelsea interest in Summerville. In his column for Substack, he said: “I’m not aware of any contacts or negotiations over Crysencio Summerville at Leeds.”
The 22-year-old has been in excellent form for Daniel Farke’s side this season. In 32 Championship appearances, he has scored 15 goals and provided eight assists.
Another player who Chelsea are currently being linked with is Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala.
Chelsea not trying to sign Crysencio Summerville right now
Despite reports, it does not look like Chelsea are working on a deal to bring Summerville to Stamford Bridge.
The Dutchman is proving to be quite a good winger, with his manager hailing him as an “outstanding creative player” earlier in the season.

However, Summerville does not seem to be what Chelsea need at this moment in time. They already have two raw wingers who are around the same age as the Leeds star in Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke. It makes sense to develop the pair instead of bringing in a similar wide man.
If Chelsea are going to sign a new attacker in the summer, it has to be someone who is closer to being the finished article and performing in a higher division than the Championship. If not, it is hard to see how that addition is going to help Pochettino’s side to progress.
Ultimately, then, while Summerville is developing into an effective attacker and has a lot of potential, Chelsea should probably be looking at other wingers if they want to strengthen in that position in the summer. A young and inexperienced team, the Blues need signings who are absolute guarantees and not more gambles.
