Former Chelsea defender Wayne Bridge has a warning for his old club.

Ahead of the transfer window opening this month, several Chelsea players are being linked with moves away from Stamford Bridge.

The likes of Trevoh Chalobah and Conor Gallagher, for example, are thought to be attracting interest from other Premier League sides.

Manchester United are said to be considering the former, while Tottenham Hotspur are believed to have the latter on their radar.

Selling both players this summer would help Chelsea with profit and sustainability rules.

Wayne Bridge on ‘shambles’ Chelsea

It is fair to say that Bridge is not happy with what he is seeing at Chelsea right now.

The former left-back has described what is going on at the club as a “shambles” and thinks the fact that Gallagher could be sold sums everything up.

Speaking about his old side in an interview with the Daily Express, Bridge said: “Chelsea just surprise me all the time at the moment. It’s been a bit of a shambles down there.

“The fact Conor Gallagher is in the mix just goes to show that when I say ‘shambles’, it is a shambles, because he’s probably their second-best player after Cole Palmer. It just seems all over the shop.”

Was Conor Gallagher Chelsea’s second-best player this season?

Gallagher was a very important player for Mauricio Pochettino.

In total, the midfielder made 50 appearances in all competitions, more than any other Chelsea player.

He also provided seven assists in the Premier League — only Palmer recorded more — and made 2.3 tackles per game, which was the third-highest average in the Blues’ squad (WhoScored).

Ultimately, then, you can easily make a case for Gallagher being Chelsea’s second-best player this term.

It is why selling him this summer could be such a bad idea. But if the Blues need to make money, then the Englishman is going to be a candidate to go. His contract is running down and there is clearly a market for him.
