Chelsea and Mauricio Pochettino are having a disastrous season.
They just lost 4-2 at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers and are currently 11th in the Premier League table — nowhere near the Champions League places.
However, compared to the last campaign, Chris Sutton thinks there has actually been some minor improvements at Chelsea. The former striker was discussing the Blues on the latest episode of It’s All Kicking Off!.
Mauricio Pochettino‘s men will be looking to bounce back from their defeat against Wolves when they take on Aston Villa in a fourth round FA Cup replay.
The two sides played out a 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge last month.

Chris Sutton thinks Chelsea have slightly improved
With Chelsea into the Carabao Cup final and having already matched their 2022/23 Premier League goal tally, Sutton says there has been some improvement under Pochettino.
On his former club, he said: “There have been minor improvements. They have scored as many goals this season as they did last season. They are more than likely to beat last season’s points tally. They are in a Carabao Cup final. Will people’s perception change if they win the Carabao Cup?”

Chelsea have not improved enough
At the end of the day, Chelsea are still in the bottom half of the table after investing even more money in the summer transfer window.
In some areas, yes, they have improved, but the Blues are still nowhere near the required level right now.
If that does not change, Pochettino is going to find himself in big trouble. It is already being reported that the club are considering getting rid of the former Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham Hotspur boss following the shocking defeat to Wolves over the weekend. It is certainly not looking good for him at this moment in time.
