Chelsea signed Nicolas Jackson and sold Kai Havertz in the last summer transfer window.

Their goal records in the Premier League this season are practically identical.

In 32 appearances, Nicolas Jackson has scored 13 goals, while Kai Havertz has registered one fewer in the same number of games for Arsenal.

Even so, former Chelsea player Craig Burley thinks one has been better than the other and by some distance.

Another former Chelsea star, Demba Ba, had some positive things to say about Jackson after his two goals against West Ham United over the weekend.

Craig Burley on Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson and Arsenal’s Kai Havertz

Burley was recently asked on ESPN FC who is having a better season out of Jackson and Havertz.

In response, the pundit said: “Havertz by a long way. It’s not even close.”

He also went on to add: “The problem is for Chelsea, they had nobody else because [Christopher] Nkunku was injured. This guy was going to come in as Superman. He was going to come back and save them. That never happened.

“But Nico Jackson had, didn’t have to play, but he basically played because they were short on numbers in that position.”

Has Kai Havertz really had a better season than Nicolas Jackson?

Chelsea fans will say no and that is understandable. Again, in the Premier League, Jackson has actually scored more goals than Havertz.

This is the Senegal international’s first season in England as well, while it is Havertz’s fourth.

Jackson is also two years younger than the German and is playing in a much weaker team, with Chelsea currently 29 points behind their London rivals.

And had Jackson been more clinical, he would probably be on at least 20 goals. the former Villarreal man has had some very good chances this season that he has not managed to capitalise on.

All things considered, then, can you really argue that Havertz has outperformed his Chelsea rival in the current campaign? There is not a lot of evidence, if any at all, to suggest so.
