The level of performance from Chelsea’s Malo Gusto may go under the radar last night against Newcastle United.
That is according to Jason Cundy.
Chelsea returned to winnings way in the Premier League yesterday by beating Newcastle 3-2 at Stamford Bridge.
For the Blues, they earned a much-needed three points to ensure they remain within touching distance of the European positions.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side don’t play in the league again until they host Burnley on 30 March. Instead, they face Championship leaders Leicester City in the FA Cup quarter-finals this weekend before an international break.
Malo Gusto, 20, was one of the Chelsea players that stood out for the right reasons in the Newcastle victory.
The £100,000-a-week right-back (Salary Sport) was composed in his defensive work, while also providing an attacking threat.
Cundy really liked what he saw from Chelsea’s full-back on Monday night.

“I know Gusto won’t get man of the match but I’ve got to tell you he’s been top drawer again,” Cundy said via Chelsea’s official app (9:47pm, 11 March).
He later added at full-time (10:00pm): “I want to give big praise to Gusto again.”
Malo Gusto against Newcastle
Gusto once again looked mature beyond his years in the Newcastle victory, standing up defensively to the test of both Anthony Gordon and then Miguel Almiron during the 90 minutes.
For the Blues, they’ve managed to sign a player that provides genuine competition for club captain Reece James.
Speaking via Sky Sports (8:12pm, 11 March) during live commentary of Chelsea vs Newcastle, Gary Neville said that Gusto was “dominating” Gusto in their individual battle during the first half.
We’re still yet to see any Premier League winger really bully Gusto this season in any game.
It’s frightening to remember he’s only 20 and this is his first season in England adapting to completely new surroundings under the scrutiny of a massive club.
