Jamie O’Hara has questioned if Harry Kane leaving the Premier League for Bayern Munich would be a ‘step down’.
Kane has reportedly agreed personal terms with the Bundesliga giants, and Tottenham are in a battle to hold on to their record scorer.
With just a year left on his Spurs contract, Kane appears to have his heart set on leaving the club after 13 trophyless seasons.
Sky Germany claim Munich is the England captain’s ‘preferred destination’ despite links to Real Madrid and Manchester United, but his fellow Spurs academy graduate O’Hara isn’t sure why.
talkSPORT understands Tottenham will reject any bids for their record-breaking striker.
Bayern have won the last 11 Bundesliga titles with relative ease, even beating Borussia Dortmund on the final day last season despite a terrible campaign.
talkSPORT host O’Hara was discussing the move, and questioned: “Would you rather the Premier League scoring record or a Bundesliga title which you’re almost guaranteed to win? It’s like going to PSG.
“Do we really care about Bayern Munich over here? We don’t, do we?
“We talk about Real Madrid because it’s Real Madrid, we talk about Barcelona, but we don’t really go on about Bayern Munich.”
Co-host Jason Cundy hit back though, suggesting Bayern’s pedigree makes them an aspirational club.
He said: “What you have there is the history of that football club and playing for one of the world greats.
“Are we being a bit unfair on Bayern here? Is it little Englander? It wasn’t that long ago they were getting to the Champions League final and winning the Champions League against PSG.”
But O’Hara wasn’t sure, arguing: “I know, but I feel like the Premier League is so big it’s almost like a step down.”
