Jesse Lingard has fuelled speculation that he could join Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami this summer on a free transfer.

The ex-Manchester United star was snubbed by his old teammate Wayne Rooney at DC United recently.

It comes after leaving Nottingham Forest at the end of June when his one-year deal at the club ran out.

Lingard is now a free agent, but has found suitors hard to come by.

But he could be playing alongside Messi soon after he sparked speculation that he could join MLS side Inter Miami.

The England international posted videos of himself training at the club’s DRV PNK facility.

A move to Inter Miami is possible as he would not take up one of their designated player slots as he would cost nothing.

David Beckham’s Inter have already snapped up Sergio Busquets and are preparing to unveil Messi in an enormous transfer for the MLS outfit.

And Lingard appears to have his sights set on the United States despite being overlooked by Rooney.

The Red Devils legend, who is in charge of DC United, denied talks that the club were on the brink of signing the versatile playmaker.

The two played together for three years at Old Trafford, but Rooney insisted he had no interest in reuniting with his old teammate.

He said of the 30-year-old last month: “The Jesse Lingard [rumour]?

“I don’t know where that has come from. From my point of view we have no interest in signing him.

“We are obviously looking, there is a few players we have identified who we will work hard to try and bring in and there is things we can move round to try and do that.

“We have to be at our best, work at our best and we have to find the best way to free money up to bring players in.”

Lingard spent one season at Forest after leaving United, where he had been for 22 years.

Should he sign for Inter, he would join a side that are rock bottom of the Eastern Conference.
